He won his fight against cancer. He bested the cycling world for an unprecedented seven straight years. He even came out unscathed when the U.S. Government tried to bring charges against him.
His latest battle, however, proved too much for Lance Armstrong.
Facing charges from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, Armstrong has decided to not take his case to arbitration. Fueling speculation that he was indeed guilty and potentially costing him his seven Tour de France titles.
Perjury…not guilty. Obstruction of congress…not guilty. Making false statements…not guilty.
After hearing 10 weeks of testimony, it took jurors only 10 hours to decide the fate of Roger Clemens. The former star pitcher was acquitted of all charges. Thus ends a saga that has engulfed the 49-year-old’s life.
But one can’t help but to wonder what implications this verdict will have in the larger scheme of things.
