Thanksgiving is a time filled with turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and pies. But more importantly it is a time that families come together. For the Harbaugh family, it is no different. Once again brothers Jim and John will be spending the holiday together.
Only this year they will meet on the gridiron.
After a successful college coaching career, Jim Harbaugh is in his first year coaching the San Francisco 49ers. So far, the results have been stellar. After several years of sub-par play; the 49ers find themselves atop the NFC West. Their only loss was against the Cowboys, in a game where it can be argued the team beat themselves. Lead by Patrick Willis, their defense is one of the best in the league. They lead the league in forced turnovers on d, and have committed the least on offense. Quarterback Alex Smith’s has experienced quite the comeback season after a disappointing start to his career. And when healthy, Frank Gore is one of the most dominant running backs in the league.
Terrell Owens worked out yesterday at a high school in Calabasas, California; but the turn out to watch the reciever may have been a bit thinner than the 37-year old had hoped. Yes, former teammate and ESPN analyst Jerry Rice was there with a gang from Bristol, and of course T.O’s agent Drew Rosenhaus was in attendance but there were some glaring omissions. Of the 32 NFL teams, not a single one sent a scout or any personnel.
Rosenhaus stated today on ESPN Radio’s “Mike and Mike in the Morning”that this wasn’t a shock to him. He said that the workout was planned to generate interest or “create buzz.” Neither him or his client view their absence’s to be a negative.
“Just because they weren’t there doesn’t mean they weren’t interested,” he said. “I can guarantee that all 32 teams were interested.”
